CinemaKidz offers the best DIY summer camp for kids ages 5-15.  Our trained professionals guide campers through the fundamentals of filmmaking and creative expression.  Whether your child has a passion for acting, costume design, using technology, or creating art with their hands, our camps are designed for everyone and every interest.  Our campers are encouraged to trust their imaginations and refine their unique vision at each stage of the creative process.Active Learning All Day” 

 A Child-Driven, Hands On Program” Our camps are age-appropriate, hands on, learning-by-doing, child-driven, team-oriented and fun for everyone!  Camps run from 9am to 4pm, with an optional extended day ‘til 5pm (additional cost applies).  We follow a school schedule to create a familiar environment for your child.  We take fun snack breaks, and go outside everyday with structured active play, rain or shine.  We are a nut free environment!  Children are asked to bring one or two snacks and a hearty lunch because we are active all day!

Classic CinemaKidz Schedule

    • 1030-1045:  Snack break
    • 1045-1145:  Screenplay Writing Workshop – round-table writing
    • 1145 – 1215: Lunch
    • 1215-200: Outdoor games and free-play
    • 200-215: Quiet time and optional snack
    • 215-400: Stop Motion Studio
    • 400: Pick-up




Adventures in Animation (Ages 5 – 13) 1-week session , 9am-4pm

Animation For KidsCome explore the many techniques of stop-motion animation in our week long Animation-Bonanza camp! Our campers will have an opportunity to create abstract and narrative stories with a fun wide range of materials including: Legos, Play-doh, paper, cardboard, wood, found objects and more!  We teach  our movie-makers how to safely handle these materials and create amazing props for their films.


imovie movie makingCampers will learn new skills while having fun!  The simple, hands-on technology allows children autonomy in the movie making process.  Our camp curriculum encourages artistic experimentation, team work, problem solving and storytelling!  We group children by age and interest, so no matter what your child loves to do, they will have the time of their life and learn age-appropriate skills.

Cinessentials: the ABC’s of filmmaking (Ages 6 – 13)  1-week session , 9am-4pm

summer camp for girlsIn Cinessentials, children will learn the fundamentals of filmmaking in a positive, creative, and team-oriented setting.  Campers are encouraged to stretch their imagination and experiment with the basic tenets of screenwriting (story structure, dialogue, conflict and character development).  Children will work together in a collaborative environment to make 1-2 scripts and practice active listening, public speaking and giving constructive feedback to friends.

When the screenplay(s) are complete, children will break into teams to storyboard their scene and get ready for filming.  Every child will have a chance to be the Director, Costume Designer, Camera Person, Lighting Technician, and Script Supervisor.  Every camper will have the chance to be a movie-star!  Once the film is in the can, the children will work in teams to edit the film and soundtrack using professional programs including iMovie, Final Cut Pro and more.  Every session concludes with a film screening for parents and friends followed by an Academy Award Ceremony.  Each child gets a DVD of the finished film.  Your child will have the experience of a lifetime making new memories with new friends!

NYC Movie Adventurers (Ages 7-15) 1-week session, 8:30am-5:00pm,    *Limited Seats

DIY summer camp nycNYC Movie Adventurers aims to foster the Independent Creative Kid.  This camp focuses on freedom, creativity and teamwork.  Your child will gain a level of independence and confidence as they explore the most secret and amazing spots in New York City and the surrounding area.

Each day, campers will participate in a morning meeting to discuss the location and what sort of creative films they might want to make there.  We will safely travel to one amazing location each day and make a short film using professional cameras.  Previous location visits include: Floyd Bennet Field, Fort Tilden Beach, Steiner Studios, The Brooklyn Navy Yard, Staten Island Boardwalk, Orchard Beach, Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, and many more hidden gems.  Every child will learn the fundamentals of filmmaking and how to use professional cameras outdoors and on the go.

There will be a special visit to a professional film studio located in New York City where campers will tour a real set in action.  Children will leave with life-long skills and a DVD of their short films.
